Hi creative friends,
Every now and then, I love shining our Crafter of the Month spotlight on one of our wonderful Design Team members, so our community can get to know the creative hearts who inspire us behind the scenes.
This month, I’m absolutely delighted to introduce you to the incredibly talented and much-loved Sandra Limper from the Netherlands.
If you’ve ever watched one of her video tutorials or admired her magical shabby projects inside the Craft Room, you’ll already know that Sandra brings a special kind of joy, whimsy, and warmth to everything she creates.
Today, I’m honoured to share her story with you.

A Creative Life in a Shabby Chic Barn
Sandra lives in the Netherlands with her husband in a charming shabby-chic decorated barn she designed herself… her very own Atelier, filled with beauty, craft supplies, and inspiration.
It’s the perfect setting for someone whose creativity has been part of her life for as long as she can remember.

Crafting Since Childhood
Sandra’s passion for crafting began early.
She has a photo of herself at just four years old, happily cutting paper with scissors.
From there, she learned to crochet at a young age, embroidered sweet Forever Friends bears at sixteen, and even sewed her own clothes between the ages of 18 and 21.
Then, in 2003, she created a large heart-shaped project filled with photos for her sister-in-law… and discovered the world of scrapbooking.
YouTube opened up a whole new universe of inspiration, and soon she was hosting small workshops from home and sharing her love of crafting with others.

A Style That Comes Full Circle
For many years, Sandra’s style was soft, white, pink, and completely shabby chic.
Over time she ventured into brighter colours, but discovering Shabby Art Boutique designs brought her right back to the soft palette she always loved.
It’s been such a joy to see her signature shabby style bloom once more.

Projects Close to Her Heart
Two projects hold a special place in Sandra’s heart:
- Her mini loaded totes… the very first creations she made using Shabby Art Boutique’s printable kits from Etsy.
- Her whimsical wishing well… the first project she ever designed herself and the subject of her very first YouTube tutorial.
Both represent meaningful milestones in her creative journey.

Crafting Freedom & Favourite Moments
When asked what she enjoys most, Sandra said she loves crafting without rules… especially her end-of-month album pages, where she lets her creativity wander wherever it wants to go.
Her favourite moment in any project?
Adding lace, pearls, and glitter at the very end… the magic touches that bring everything to life.

Life as a Design Team Member
Sandra says being on the Design Team allows her to explore her imagination and come up with something new each time.
While sharing her work with so many viewers can feel a little scary, she feels incredibly blessed by the kindness and support of the Craft Room community.

Creative Inspirations
Sandra credits the soft shabby style of Shabby Art Boutique for bringing her back to the colours and textures she loves.
She also draws inspiration from her fellow DT member, Lauren, whose projects and YouTube videos gave her the courage to “just go ahead and do it!”

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Sandra’s Creative Process
One of my favourite things she shared was a glimpse into her crafting routine. It begins quietly, with:
-
a cup of tea
-
her notebook
-
and the new kit laid out in front of her
She writes down all the ideas flowing through her mind, then chooses one and begins gathering supplies.
Her husband lovingly helps by cutting her ephemera on the Silhouette, and Sandra films every step so others can craft along with her.
And like many creatives, she often starts another project halfway through because inspiration strikes again… which leads to a very happy, very busy, slightly chaotic craft space!
With each new kit release, she clears everything away and begins fresh.

Her Craft Essentials
Sandra’s must-have tools include:
-
her inch ruler
-
Tim Holtz scissors for paper and lace
-
a second pair of scissors rubbed with Vaseline for sticky materials
-
her trusty hot glue gun
-
Walnut stain distress ink
These are always by her side no matter what she’s making.

What She’s Working On Now
Her current project is a charming mini album for Santa’s sleigh.
It keeps getting bumped down the list as new ideas pop up… but she hopes to finish it before Christmas arrives!
