Hello creative friends,
Here we are at Christmas 2020… I don’t mind admitting that I feel a bit underwhelmed this year.
I’ve always been completely over the top when it comes to Christmas because it truly makes my heart sing with joy, but 2020 has been a year like no other.
And…. I’m sure lots of people feel that way this year.
Dealing with my dad’s health issue has also been a priority this past few months, so I almost didn’t bother decorating my craft room, but once I started putting up Christmas trees I felt a little more festive and continued right on into my creative space…. and I’m so glad I did!
Decorating the craft room…
I literally shopped my own storage room this year and re-used everything…. even opened a few bags of ornaments that haven’t been used in awhile.
On one of the IKEA storage units I reused one of my large hand painted angels. The other one is in my living room.
Next came a collection of 60 cm (2 “ tall) flocked trees and a large flocked garland. I tell you, that flocked garland is about 20 years old and the flocking I applied a few years ago is starting to look a bit worse for wear… lucky my preference for baubles is all or nothing!
I used fishing line to suspend plastic glittery snowflakes I purchased at Walmart last time I visited the US. They don’t look very glittery in this image, but they actually do swing around and pick up the light. My theme was starting to lean towards ‘white Christmas”…. so I fully embraced that.
The pink, aqua and gold baubles are a purchase from last year. I loved them then and I still adore them in 2020.
Look how perfectly they go with my aqua walls.
My craft room still has to be practical, so the top of my storage unit holds my excess ribbons, cottons and a few nods to Christmas.
On my shelf I grouped a few snowy bottlebrush trees and hung up one of my sets of handmade Tilda reindeers.
I’ve never hung them before, but they look adorable and I smile every time I enter the room.
A Victorian Angel Tree
I’ve moved a few things around in the craft room recently and had this space beside the French doors, so I decided that a small tree would fit in perfectly beside my sewing table.
It’s just a cheap Kmart (Australia) flocked tree that isn’t lush, but nothing a bit of white tinsel and a heap of baubles couldn’t disguise!
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get my hands on an extra set of warm white lights this year (thanks Covid!), so I made do with a set of outdoor white icicle lights from my storage. Maybe not my first choice, but they twinkle nonetheless.
Once I added my baubles and the pretty Victorian angels (from my November Handmade Club kit), she come up a treat and makes my whole room glow.
I no longer use real candles in my craft room because of all of the flammable things in there, but I do love having the IKEA flameless candles.
They have such a soft glow about them and add the perfect ambiance if I spend time in the craft room in the evening.
Aww…doesn’t my Angel tree look pretty?
Don’t tell anyone, but that extra fluffy and sumptuous tree skirt is actually one of the new ALMTJÄRN bath mats from IKEA…. sshhh!
I love this view from my sewing table across to the craft area and I’m so pleased that I decided to continue the tradition of decorating my craft room for Christmas.
This is one half of my craft room and it is all pretty pastels and snowy whites….. but there is something a little unexpected happening over the other side.
I look forward to sharing that with you next week!

Just gorgeous Kerry Anne. What a beautiful place to work. xoxo
Such a gorgeous space you have created for yourself! I just adore the flocked trees and that garland with those colorful baubles is so stunning! Thanks for sharing. Wishing you and your family a Happy Holiday season.
The Christmas season is also my very favorite. This year, I really feel cheated. No getting together with family because of the covid rules, no dining in restaurants where I live, however we have riots on a nightly basis destroying our city, and yes, that’s being allowed. I’m so sad and angry this year about what has happened to my community. I think I will have a good cry, and then I will treat myself to a nice long look at your Christmas craft room. I bet it will cheer me up!!
Quedó hermoso tu taller. Hay que seguir adelante a pesar de las circunstancias. Que al ver a tus renos cuando entras al taller, significa que valió la pena. Me encantó tu ángel!!!!
This all looks utterly stunning, What a beautiful space. I agree Christmas is definitely different this year and a bit harder to be motivated for, but whatever kind of Christmas you have I hope it is joyful.
Oohh! The pink and aqua are stunning together! What a beautiful little space.
So pretty and such a lovely place in which to create. My “studio” is my entire one-bedroom apartment so, yes, it is decorated…to the hilt. It took me longer this year, either age or the pandemic, but I finally got finished packing away the extraneous just yesterday and did one final vacuuming so everything is pretty, clean and organized for the first time in weeks. Such a joy.
So many lovely ideas! A pink craft room is brilliant, and I’m totally stealing this idea. My living room has other well-established themes.
It must be so inspiring to step into that gorgeous and magical room! I love your tree(s) and all flocked white with the pretty baubles! Who wouldn’t want to craft in there? I sure would. No I don’t decorate my craft room.. it is the size of a smallish bedroom but is stuffed totally with shelves and my supplies, so hardly anywhere to put any decorations at all! The only things decorated it are my Christmas type fabrics and papers strewn about here and there. It would be nice to have some twinkly lights though.. hum.m.m that’s an idea I may go with! Have a wonderful Christmas on your side of the world! Marilyn
Everything looks so Christmassy and pretty! Love it all!
Merry Christmas to you x
I absolutely love your decor Kerry Anne, it is very festive yet calming. I really love the angel you have in the first picture.
I am wondering if you have a pattern for painting one similar as I purchased a couple of wooden angels a few years ago, but I am yet to paint them as I haven’t found the right design. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Merry Christmas.
Thank you Karen.
I don’t have a pattern for the large angels I’m sorry. They were hand painted originals that I made a few years ago and were painted freehand.
Merry Christmas,
Kerryanne
Love your craft room. The free printables are beautiful and to me the true meaning of Christmas. Thank you so much and Merry Christmas.
What a winter wonderland you have created! Thanks for sharing!
