Hello there shabbilicious friends!
I’ve just returned from a trip away again. I’ve not mentioned it here before, but as my Newsletter followers know, I’m currently dividing my time between 2 states… plus the city and country for awhile.
As well as accumulating frequent flyer points, my trips away have afforded me time to rediscovered an old friend… reading!
I’ve always loved reading, but the general busyness of my life has seen a sharp decline in this quiet and relaxing pursuit in recent years.
Sure I spend heaps of time online reading blogs and social media… but putting aside a few hours to just losing myself in a good book seems to have escaped me completely.
So… having had the opportunity to read several new books already this year, I’ve set myself a goal…
But I’m hoping for more than that!
I know many of you like to read too, so I wondered if you’d like to join me in this fun little goal?
You don’t need to sign up or make any kind of commitment… it’s just for fun!
Once a month I’m going to report back here and share my thoughts on the book/s I’ve read in the past month.
Here’s the best bit… if you join me on this journey, we don’t need to read the same books.
I’ve joined book clubs before thinking I’d enjoy the diversity of reading with a group, but to be honest, I end up with a pile of books I didn’t enjoy or worse, didn’t finish.
Here’s how I ‘think’ it will work…
On the first Wednesday of the month I’ll post a review on my previous month’s reading material.
Maybe you’d like to leave a comment or link to your own book review blog post.
If there are a few participating I’ll add a link up so we can all easily see the links, but if not, I will look forward to seeing your recommendations in my comments section.
Committing to this will make me accountable… and ensure that I make ‘ME’ time for myself in 2016.
I read all kinds of genres, so I hope you will share your recommendations and reviews, so we can all discover new titles.
Happy reading my friends,
Kerryanne

Hey Kerryane! I’ve always been a bookworm & my Mum tells the story of how even as a crawling Bub I devou books … Until they blocked off the bookcase so I stopped chewing the pages! Tee! Hee! Hee! I Tend to binge read these days … Two weeks or so of nose in book (or iPad these days!) reading book after book, then a few weeks of binge sewing. A lot of my reading is re-reading faves but I toss a new one in from time to time. Look forward to hearing about your books. :0) Bear Hugs! KRIS xx
Oops! Devoured books. Stoopid autocorrect!! :0P KRIS xx
My book reading is a bit hit & miss. I read loads of books when I got my e-reader but I did so miss my ‘real’ books.
I’ve read a few crime thrillers recently but I’m currently re-reading “A Christmas Carol” as I bought a beautifully illustrated copy in the sales.

My mom taught me to read before I ever went to kindergarten. In can remember trips to the library with her when I would max out my library card and would beg Mom to check out more books on her card for me. To this day, one of my favorite habits to unwind before bed is to lose myself in a good book. It is the perfect way to let the mind wander and become consumed in an author’s world. I can’t wait to hear about the books you are reading.
This sounds interesting and enjoyable, Kerryanne.. What a fun way to connect with others. How lovely that you have found the time to once again do something that you enjoy so much! I didn’t read fiction for years because I was schooling my children at home.. I was an avid reader in my younger years. So I understand completely. And it’s been such a joy to re-discover one of my first loves. I will look forward to this very much. Thank you! Best wishes for the remainder of your week.

“Take Me With You” by Catherine Ryan Hyde. I bought this book to read on my Kindle, such a simple store with so much heart that I have had to buy it in paperback so I can loan it out to my friends. Such a wonderful, interesting story that will lift your spirits up so much you will not believe it, honestly. Sorry Kerryanne, the story is set in America but it could have been set in OZ. Life around us is turning the wrong way, so it seems, so I read a lot to get lost in the pages and this story will suck you in so quickly you won’t believe it. I tend to read Inspirational book, about the Amish but often a mystery will pop itself in there somewhere. Now that I am retired I read more then ever as it was difficult to find the time while working full time and raising a child on my own. I love that you can go on to Amazon.com and most often read the 1st chapter of a book so see if you might be interested in the story first, that really help. But yes, word of mouth will be better. Thank you so much for your wonderful newsletter with all the beautiful Shabby. Love it all and so enjoy them when they fall into my email box here in Colorado, USA. I do not have a blog or Website
I would love to do this! It would help me make time for “me”. I am trying to do this “finding me again” thing but yet still be a 24/7 caregiver for my son who has intense needs. I used to love to read!!!!!! I need to read something other than autism – other than different interventions, other than therapies etc. i want to read again for me!!! Thank you for this opportunity – I hope this becomes a reality for all of us!!!!!
I love your idea of us reading and being accountable to one another with it. I enjoy reading when I take the time and this should give me that nudge to do so., Thanks!
