Handmade Christmas Gift Wrapping

Hello friends,

With just 2 weeks until Christmas, the countdown is definitely now on.

I’m feeling fairly relaxed and ready… with just last minute things like baking left to do before family start arriving next week.

Over the weekend I wrapped my gifts and today I thought I’d share a few of my wrapping tips with you.

I wrap all my gifts differently…

My children always have their own individual papers, so there are no mix ups under the tree.

For family gifts, I wrap according to their taste…. bright and bold for some… more traditional for others.. I want the gifts to look lovely under their tree in the lead up to Christmas.

And then there are my ‘shabbilicious’ friends, who I know appreciate the small extra touches like glittered handmade vintage book paper roses.

This sweet box above is wrapped in vintage book paper and music manuscript.

It’s adorned with a glittery bauble and several frosty book paper roses.

The tutorial for making these roses is HERE. (It’s an oldie, but I still like making them). When I finished rolling the roses, I dabbed white glue on the edges and then dipped in a bag of German Glass Glitter. They come out looking like they were frosted.

Tip: while you are making things like these vintage paper book roses, make extra and store ready to use at a later date.

You may remember these pretty gift boxes from my Christmas Craft Room tour.

I stumbled onto this pretty homemade paper quite by accident.

Once when I sent a handmade gift to a friend, I wrapped it in some of the fabric I had used to make the gift. It looked so pretty and I knew that being a sewer, she would use the extra piece of fabric.

Given the cost of patchwork fabrics, using them as wrapping paper makes for an expensive gift wrap.

Wondering how I could get the same effect, I tried photocopying the fabric.

Wow… it worked better than I thought it would!!

So I tried larger pieces and started printing my own gift wrap.

At Christmas I love tying these pretty gifts with tulle ribbon and adding a sweet handmade gift tag or a Christmas ornament like this clip on jewelled bird. They make the gift extra special, plus the ornament can then be used on their tree.

For my nieces and nephews this year, I made my own variation of the Santa Mail Delivery tag. Isn’t this fun!!

  2. Love the gift wrap Kerryanne!! How do you make a piece of paper big enough for wrapping by photocopying fabric?

    • Hi Florence,
I photocopy at the larger size of A3 and sometimes join 2 sheets of A3 to make an even larger sheet. I’ve found those 2 sizes cover most of my wrapping needs. I have also taken a file on my USB to the local print shop and had them print the bigger sheets for me. Hope you have fun with this project. Merry Christmas!

  3. you are so fanch smancy
