Miss Foxie

Hello shabbilicious friends!

Try as I might to get my blogging schedule back on track, it’s been so hit and miss of late. I’ve got lots of exciting things happening right now, which has had me travelling all over the place… but hopefully I’ll be staying put for a few weeks now and can share some of my news with you.

Little Miss Foxie - Shabby Art Boutique

Today I thought I’d share one of my latest creative projects with you…. it’s Miss Foxie.

She is so sweet and adorable!

Miss Foxie is actually a prototype. When I try new designs, I make them in miniature first. Mainly because smaller items are quick to make and should I need to make several prototypes of the same piece, I’m not wasting my creative materials.

The fox design is a scaled down version of a Tilda fox pattern.

I made it out of unbleached calico, stuffed, assembled and then decided to play around with some watercolour paint.

I like the subtle blending of colours and the character that evolved in the face.

Next, I gathered some older Tilda fabrics from my stash to make a dress.

These fabrics from the Country Escape collection are still my favourites.

Miss Foxie is even sweeter dressed in her mint green dress.

And now she fits in perfectly with my GreenGate collection too!

I’ve got a set of 3 full sized foxie ladies made and now I’m debating whether to paint them like a fox, tea stain the fabric or simply leave them in natural muslin.

What do you suggest?

I’ll pop back in on Friday to share the first of my newsy bits and bobs, so until then…

Happy crafting

Miss Foxie is adorable. I know just the little girl who would love her. Any thoughts on where to find cute fabrics like yours? I would enjoy seeing others in plain muslin fabric. Love all things hand made.
