Every crafter and sewer requires some form of pincushion to store their pins.
What do you use? I have two… my pincushion angel and a magnetic bowl.
I first designed this pincushion back in 2011. She was later retired and re-released due to demand in 2013. At that time I gave her a bit of a make-over and a more vintage look.
She went on to be one of my most popular E-patterns.
My angel lives on my desk… ready to be used every time I craft… and I adore her.
Earlier this year I retired this pattern again, along with all my E-patterns from the Boutique, so I could create all new designs in 2015.
Since then, there has been a steady stream of enquiries about this particular design. I guess we can blame that on Pinterest.
So… reluctantly, I’ve re-released this design today.
My Pincushion Angel is 28 cm tall and weighted with rice or pellets. She has a pocket in the back to hold small embroidery scissors or a Quick-unpick (that’s what I store in the pocket).
It’s difficult to get the pre-made Tilda wings now, due to bands on imported feathers, but I know several people have told me they made their own feather wings from craft store feathers. Crazy isn’t it… you can buy a bag of feathers, but not pre-made feather wings!
She’s an easy afternoon project and makes a great gift for a crafty friend (with or without wings).
The Pincushion Angel is available (again) on my Pattern page in my Boutique.
I’ve got several new designs in various stages of completion that I hope to have released soon… gosh, I hope they are as well loved as this design!
What sort of pincushion do you use… I’d love to know. Let’s chat!!

My pincushion is the padded top of an exploding box that holds sewing accessories. The bulk of my pins still live in the plastic box they came in when I purchased them at senior school.
I love your beautiful pin angel and the vintage colour-way is fabulous.

Kerryanne,
Love your pin angels. Especially the cream and white. They are adorable.

I buy the white doves that are sometimes used for wedding decoration and take the wings off to use for angel wings. I do mean the faux dovesof course!

I had to purchase your pattern. When I make it I will share it with you. She is so cute. But you didn’t name her! Certainly she is pretty enough to have a name! Enjoy your blog very much all the way here in NC USA. I have always wanted to visit your area, mainly New Zealand, but Australia too. So many worlds, so many things to make!

Ihave made your beautiful angel pincushion and use her. I named her Elspeth, don’t know why but it seemed right 🙂 She sits by my sewing gear waiting for me each day. I love her. Hugs Shirley

I’m so glad you enjoy your Elspeth, Shirley. My angel sits on my crafting desk too and is used constantly. I like that she stands upright, not taking up too much room on my overcrowded desk, yet providing a much needed storage solution.
